Tuesday, never could get the hang of Tuesdays

A quiet day................it's hard to say that as quiet is relative I suppose. BUT, I actually found time to blog a few things I found whilst indulging on my usual weekend shopping frenzy.

The first was sent by my good friend Virlay, who's the CEO of the House of Elliott.We survived MVW together what seems a lifetime ago and we've stayed good friends every since. She's now a wonderful designer and I thought I'd share this "Golden Gown" with you first.

Beautiful isn;t it :) Once I saw this, I knew I had to get my blogging head on. This lovely full-length evening gown, with slit sleeves and a fairly low neckline is almost Grecian in appearance, well that's how it struck me. The fabric is intricately decorated with a interlocked circles design, each circle linked by a make of threads. The skirt is slightly flared and moves just beautifully, good for a ballgown. The bold golden belt is embossed with a golden lion head and makes quite a statement. Seeing as Fall is just around the corner, this could be a perfect gown for the new season.

Spanish Flair - "Fernanda" from EVOLVE

Its Thursday, we all know what that means.........55L THURSDAY woot!

I'm not the most prolific blogger (bad Kim, I know), but I do occasionally get the odd flash of inspiration. I've worked at EVOLVE for a long time now and I really wanted something to blog from there. Reign Congrejo, as many of you will know, is the owner and creative genius behind the designs that are EVOLVE.

This particular dress is on offer at EVOLVE now for 55L, so pop over and have a look! "Fernanda" has a definite Spanish flair to it.

Cut from black silk, the dress clings beautifully in all the right places, ending in a slightly below the knee length skirt, slightly demure but also not concealing any of your charms! The grey and black silk ruffle ends just above the bustline and gives "Fernanda" that unmistakeable Spanish look. It's finished off with a wide belt that nips in the waist nicely and produces a lovely line and a pair of black gloves for that elegant touch. Perfect for just about any occasion and only 55L. Can't lose with this one ladies!!!

Sascha's "Teazy in Silver"

Blossoms Sweetwater, a good friend, got in touch with me a little while ago and asked if I fancied a look at a gown from Sascha's. Seeing if that's like asking if I like chocolate, of course I said yes. When I opened the box, there was a bit of a thunk...............my jaw hitting the floor. I'll let the pictures tell the story while my brain gets into at least first gear ....

How gorgeous is this? I defy anyone not to relive their childhood dreams of being a princess wearing this beautiful creation.This gown has a skin-tight top and pants with a subtle lacey texture applied to them, the lace enhanced by a delicate light browny pattern. The floor-length skirt is so graceful, made from layer after layer of gauzy silver chiffon, swirling about in the slightest breeze. The stola is again made from cleverly matched silver chiffon and forms almost a floral effect. It reminded me of a painting I once saw with Venus arising from the waves, it really does give that sort of an effect.

The whole gown is beautifully made and fitted me almost perfectly straight out of the box. The skirt and stola have built-in resizers, so editing them is an absolute snap.

Thank you Blossoms and thank you Sascha, this will take a place of honour in my gowns closet, once I make a big one so they all go in there!!!

New mesh dress from ZanzE

Selena Maskelyne from ZanzE very kindly sent me this new mesh dress called "Katerine". I loved it the second I saw it so here we go .....

A single-shouldered mesh dress cut close to the body, this will flatter anyone's figure. Textured with alternating soft pink and red stripes, a floral design is cleverly woven into the fabric. Its knee-length skirt is trimmed at the hem and the overall fit is very good indeed.

It comes in the usual 5 standard sizing fittings so fitting it to almost anyone won;t be an issue :) Its a great dress for summer for just about any occasion. I love the detail and pattern and the obvious care that has been taken making it.

Elegance from Azul

I have been a fan of Mami Jewell and her superb and stylish brand "Azul" since I came into Second Life in 2010. So to have the opportunity (thanks Wicca mwwwah!!) to blog one of her beautiful gowns I felt very privileged.

Those of you who follow contests will recognize this gown, the stunning "Malaga", as the formal gown worn my the lovely Tania Tebaldi during the Miss Virtual Spain pageant in 2012.

The colour of this gown is "Benitoite" which is the colour of a rare rich blue mineral. Finding material of this colour cannot have been easy but Mami managed it :) The gown is lovingly cut from silk of this most unusual, but very attractive colour.

The figure-hugging top is cut quite low over the bustline, was a bit of a squeeze to get in but once I did, it fitted to perfection. the skirt is almost an overlaid one, crafted from fine lace of the same benitoite shade.Its floor-length and swirls quite beautifully, perfect for an evening out dancing, a dinner date or just for those days when you want to feel like a queen.  

The gown is also supplied with these lush black silk opera gloves and a black silk bow that can be worn either as a belt or as an applique under the bustline.

More reasons to love summer

OK, OK when it comes to shopping, my friends say I have lots of will-power, but no won't power I bought the dress I blogged yesterday, loved it so I went back and made Xanadu a little bit wealthier and bought the other two. Oops.................hey I've had a mad fortnight what with shows and contests, I needed a little retail therapising.

First up is the "Springtime" dress, here I bought it in the delicate rose shade.

The pale pink silk strappy top has a very subtle sheen to it, decorated over the right breast with pink silk flowers. The skirt is a delight to wear, flowing, ankle length and catches the light quite beautifully. The whole ensemble, to me anyway, screamed summer evening cocktail party and I think I'll wear it just for that. One of my recent favourites, thanks Xanadu :)

The second summer dress I found is the gorgeous"Summer Chic", again I chose the rose shade. 

This dress has such rich and deep colours in the skirt which fade into a pale pink fitted top with straps over the shoulders. There is an accent at the waist of 2 V-shaped bands, subtly coloured in white, pink and pale green. The skirt itself is, again, ankle length with lustrous shades of mauves, rose and raspberry. It floats like a dream on the slightest movement, the skirt swirls quite beautifully. So, if you need anything for a walk in the woods, along the beach or an evening out, these could be perfect.

It's summer at last ..........YAY

Anyone who knows me knows I loathe winter with an abiding passion. So when the trees come back to life and the birds sing, I can feel a weight lift from me and enjoy the sun again.

With that in mind, I went hunting for some floaty dresses for summer and found this one at Xanadu.

A gorgeous, ethereal dress, "Summer Time" is all that's good about summer. This yellow colour just reminded me of the sun in a bright blue sky. The top is deftly coloured around the bustline with shades of blue and golden yellow and a band encircles the wait, coloured this time with shades of greens, blues and reds.The skirt is ankle-length and has a fabulously rich texture of blues, golds and very subtle greens. Go see these dresses, they are just beautiful, I'll try and blog the others later.
